Scullers Compete at USRowing Fall Speed Order

November 15, 2008 (PRINCETON, N.J.) - More than 150 scullers from around the country competed at the 2008 USRowing Fall Speed Order on Saturday at Carnegie Lake in Princeton, N.J.
In the men's single sculls, Potomac Boat Club's Sam Stitt crossed the finish line with the top time. The 2008 Olympian and Rutgers University graduate finished with a time of 12:20.274, finishing nearly 17 seconds ahead of GMS Rowing Center's Michael Sivigny. USRowing Training Center's Glenn Ochal finished third in a 12:49.630, followed by USTC's Charlie Cole.
Cambridge Boat Club's Gevvie Stone followed up her victory in the women's championship single at the Head of the Charles with a victory at the speed order. Stone narrowly defeated Kingston Rowing Club's Isolda Penney by 0.462 seconds. Stone, a Princeton University graduate, crossed the finish line with a time of 13:45.126. USRowing Training Center's Stesha Carle finished third in a 13:47.928, followed by Pocock Rowing Center's Ursula James.
Penn A.C. Rowing Association's Ivan Baldytchev won the lightweight men's single sculls, narrowly defeating Malta Boat Club's Sam Cunningham. Baldytchev, a member of the 2007 U.S. Senior National Team, finished with a time of 13:03.467, while Cunningham clocked a 13:03.939. Rowing unaffiliated, Robin Prendes finished third in a 13:06.449, followed by Bachelors Barge Club's Cody Lowry 0.45 second behind.
Kirstin Hedstrom won the six-boat lightweight women's single sculls race, finishing with a time of 14:34.285. Hedstrom finished more than 17 seconds ahead of Cecily Shiel. GMS Rowing Center's Mary Dong finished third.
Steel City Rowing Club's Matthew Maddamma won the junior men's single sculls by more than seven seconds. Maddamma came home in a 13:19.548. New Canaan High School Crew Club's Andrew Campbell finished second in a 13:26.763. Malvern Preparatory School's Mike Donohue finished third, followed by Maritime Rowing Club's Charlie Kelly.
