Brett Johnson - USRowing June 17, 2009
USRowing will have one boat racing June 19-21 at the second stop of the 2009 Rowing World Cup in Munich, Germany.
Warren Anderson (Paso Robles, Calif.), who served as an alternate on the 2008 Olympic Team, will compete against 24 other scullers in the men’s single sculls this weekend. He finished ninth in the single at the first world cup race last month in Banyoles, Spain.
Racing begins Friday at 9:30 a.m. local time with heats. Finals will be held Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m. local time. Heat sheets and individual race times will be available on Thursday afternoon, following the draw.
More than 550 athletes from 37 nations have entered the regatta. The event also marks the first world meeting of adaptive rowers. Ten countries will compete in the four Paralympic disciplines. Event finals will be video streamed live on Sunday, June 21, and can be accessed on www.worldrowing.com.
The Rowing World Cup series was launched in 1997 and includes all 14 Olympic boat classes. The overall Rowing World Cup champions will be determined after a series of three regattas. This year, the three stages of the series are being held May 29-31 in Banyoles, Spain, June 19-21 in Munich, Germany, and July 10-12 in Lucerne, Switzerland.
